Maybe vulnerability was it. I never really quite understood why bad things happened to good people. A good friend of mine told me she doesn’t believe in karma, because good things happen to bad people and bad things happen to good people.  You know what, maybe she’s right. There are too many “bad things” to go around.  We see it on the news all the time.  But how come when we were growing up, all things seemed so distant? Like it couldn’t reach us? Like bad things only happen to those people on tv. Kind of made us feel untouchable for a long time.  Now I’m laying in bed and suddenly I feel very vulnerable.  Are we at the “age” when bad things can happen to us?  As we move ahead, people get knocked down along the way.  It didn’t seem like that before.  Suddenly reality inched really close.  To be honest, I don’t mourn for them because I didn’t know them enough; but I would feel unsettled.  It gives me a reality check every time, that things can happen so suddenly.  People are vulnerable.  Fragile. Didn’t you say, “if we were made for this world, we would be made without death.”

May you not rest as long as I am living. You said I killed you — haunt me then.

I am tired of trying to hold things together that cannot be held. Trying to control what cannot be controlled. I am tired of denying myself what I want for fear of breaking things I cannot fix. They will break no matter what we do.
